Program
Laura Plott is the Exec. Director of "Common Threads Farms"
She started it 6 years ago with a 2-y.o. son in tow, hoping to create better awareness of healthy consumption choices for young people.  It is located in Happy Valley.  She tries to connect kids to healthy food choices / food competency / and food literacy.  Everything from growing the food, harvesting, preparing, marketing to doing the dishes!
For many societal problems, food is part of the answer:
  • obesity
  • behavioral problems
  • environmental sustainability
  • climate change , etc.
Some of her programs:
1. Farm Camp, soil science, food preservation;
2. Camp Pizza for older kids, making a pizza totally from scratch;
3. School gardens (with Assumption, Shuksan, Parkview, others);
4. Youth grown (with Northwest Youth Services);
5. Rebound / "Ray of Hope".
Laura is the only full time staff, she also uses many volunteers and supporters.

Respectfully submitted,
Stowe Talbot
