Program

Christine Palmerton introduced our very own Ken Oplinger of the Bellingham / Whatcom Chamber of Commerce.   This year the organization is celebrating 100 years!  There are 750 member businesses, mostly small.  They have a staff of 4.  The Chamber is a 501c6, tax-exempt, not for profit, private business.  Its main areas of service to its members:

1) Create a strong local economy;

2) Provide networking opportunities (including the Whatcom Young Professionals);

3) Promote the Community (in partnership with the Bham/Whatcom Tourism organization);

4) Advocacy issues (BC sales tax exemption, enhanced driver's license, etc.);

The board is elected by members and is responsible for policy.  The organization is funded by members and by events.

Respectfully submitted,
