Our donation of turkeys to the Food Bank made the front page of the Herald.  Good work, everyone.  Mike Cohen says we are all invited to the Food Bank anytime for a tour and a peek at the amazing stack of frozen turkeys that we helped procure.

Patti Imhof introduced Tyler and Ashley Kimberly.  Tyler started working at Imco (Imhof Company) at age 18.

The company was founded in 1978, transitioning to second generation now.

Their mission is to build quality projects with integrity, excellence and safety.

They just built new corporate headquarters in Ferndale, great space for employees, LEED certified.

Tyler and Ashley showed photos of some of their recent projects.Biggest project is Anacortes water treatment ($50M) - selling water is big source of revenue for Anacortes.

REC Polysillicon plant in expansion in Moses Lake, WA.

Arlington wastewater treatment plant.

Madison Valley (Seattle) water diversion facility.

Everett water transition main.

Route 2 culvert and slide repair project (Guam).

Paine Field (Everett) runway shoulder repair - a very expedited project working 24/hr/day.

Even some jobs in Guantanamo, Cuba!

Evolution for the coming years: Focus on strategy and development.

Family business brings unique challenges and opportunity, recommend attending the Harvard "Family Business Institute" to learn about how families

They live and thrive longer (stable leadership, loyalty, boldness, decisive, pride, resilience and sense of duty)

Survival rates of family businesses:

25% survive through the second generation

15% survive through the third generation

10% to the fourth generation.

Structure is a benefit to the family owned business: create clarity.  Surprise is the enemy.
