Fines for Ken Oplinger, dentists, Dannon Traxler for "top heavy architecture" in Vegas, those who accidentally showed up to last week's board meeting, texting during lunch, Mark Bergsma, Gordon Plume, Brad Cornwell's experience with Amsterdam's red light district, late tax filers, federal tax revenue trivia!

Program
Dennis Archer introduced Brad Burdick from the Mount Baker Theatre. Brad presented a slideshow of some of the upcoming shows we can look forward to in 2011. Recent renovations to the building have really improved the space. The theatre continues to improve its reputation and prestige nationally. It always runs in the black thanks to the support of the local audience and community. In addition to the main stage, the MBT also now has a smaller space (called the Walton Theater).

Some of the "community programs" include:  Scrap Arts Workshop for kids, and summer kids' theater camps.

  • CATS! will have three performances including a Tuesday matinee Johnny Clegg;
  • Wynton Marselis in June with full band;
  • KD Lang opening the season;
  • Also showed some ideas for POTENTIAL upcoming shows to get our reaction.

Long range plans includes more local theater, building a mid-sized theater, expanding the main stage theater. City funding is only 10% of revenue, but is critical to survival of the theater. Most revenue NOT from subsidizes. The MBT operates in the black - very unusual for community theaters!

Bill Gorman said thank you Brad for his 15 years of service at the theater!

Respectfully submitted,
Stowe Talbot
