Program
Frank Chmelick introduced Marinda Peugh from the local Mt Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross.  The local chapter has only five paid staff; everyone else is volunteer. Tis year, our Rotary club donated $1600 to the Red Cross to "fill the ERV program" (ERV is Emergency Response Vehicle); it costs $7000 per year to outfit these three vehicles with emergency supplies. Last year, the local Red Cross responded to a record number of incidents.  One of Red Cross's tasks is to help with the after-effects of an emergencies, such as counseling, temporary housing, food, etc.
Red Cross also helps with search and rescue operations.
Their largest fundraiser is the "Real Heroes Dinner".
100% of the local budget is from fundraising - the national organization does not support the local chapters.  United Way is the largest funder.

Scott Walker wins the raffle!

Respectfully submitted,
