Program
Bill Geyer introduced Mike Hughes, owner and creator of the local company “Next Level Training” (http://nextleveltraining.com).  Produces realistic “toy” handguns used for training purposes.  Mike is a lifetime resident of Whatcom County, a patent attorney, used his patent skills to develop his company.  Now has 20 employees.  A few years ago Mike was a participant in the History Channel’s show “Top Shots”, placing “runner-up” in the competition.  He is pleased with success of company, goal of $2M in sales this year.

Mike demonstrated best practices of handling a handgun:
  • don't load until ready to use;
  • don’t put finger on trigger until ready to shoot;
  • don’t point the gun at anything that you don’t want to destroy.
Use a safe, but consistent grip.
