Stew Ellison and Eddie talked about the Aug 27 Sunday 4pm start Rotario Dinner traveling “progressive lake” dinner.  $75/person starting at Stew’s house, then to Eddie’s and Chuck’s.
 
Anna announced BBRC Rotary volunteer opportunity: Saturday Aug 26th (time?) painting the downstairs of VFW hall.
 
District Governor Lindagene Coyle presented Eddie Hansen with his SECOND Paul Harris fellow!
 
New Member Induction
DG Lindagene conducted the induction of Inga Dreshcel, who has 20 years of consulting and engineering experience, currently working with Tony at Freeland Engineering. Harte Bressler will be her mentor. Welcome, Inga!
 
Bucks in the Bay
  • Curtis says he bough house next door and will be fixing it up as a rental - a big project;
  • Andy Clay 27th wedding anniversary;
  • Eddie thanks for crab feed, he has been gone for almost a month while boating with family up in Canadian islands, looking forward to the progressive dinner Rotario;
  • Dannon happy bucks missed last week on the Olympic Peninsula with family and friends;
  • Pete Ritmueller back from fishing trip to resort near Sitka, AK (an annual trip with Steve Kimberly, Dave Blair and about 20 other people) caught the limit for salmon and halibut;
  • Allen Stockbridge attended the annual “Good Time Boogie”, travelled all around Midwest and East Coast, heard some great music at a concert, and talked about the American Friends Service Committee (https://www.afsc.org) as a nominee for Nobel Peace prize;
  • Tim Krell in Eastern WA and Idaho at cabin on a lake - lots of fun, also Sounders game - glad to see increased attention to pro soccer in the US;
  • Jim Logghe proud of 35 lbs lost! Halfway to weight loss goal!
  • Mark Turner went to Buffalo NY for a garden writers conference - a surprisingly beautiful city. Saw Niagara Falls, then a wonderful weekend back here at Baker Lake with Brian.

Program
District AG Del VandeKerk (Bellingham Club) introduced our incoming District Governor, Lindagene Coyle (Whiterock Penninsula Rotary club). She said this her first Rotary club visit!  She talked about:
  • District 5050 vision / strategic plan.
  • Key areas of focus for the District.
  • Requirement for clubs like ours to receive a “Presidential Citation”.
  • District Conference will take place May 8-12 on a passenger cruise ship! (Departing Seattle, going to Victoria, then Vancouver, and then back to Seattle)
  • 2018 International Conference in Toronto.
Awards to Jeff Clement and Mark Turner for their outstanding service to the club, often behind the scenes!
