Program
Dennis introduced Pete Kremen, Whatcom County Executive. Explained his job.
County Executive. 39 counties in WA, only ? have elected county o - county council is part time job, but executive is full time. Unlike a Mayor, the CE does not appoint all is admin staff... So position requires working with people.
The former model pre-1978 (three elected commissioners) was more expeditious, but less democratic.
As a county on the international border makes our tax rates higher. Pete wants us to get a great share of federal dollars.
