  • Donna Edquist introduced Marlys Bourn, an independant CPA, two daughters in college, homehost for NW Yoth Services and Bham Bells team members.
  • Eddie Hansen introduced Paul Miles, 20 years in Whatcom County, wife and two daughters, very much a sports family, coaches baseball and basketball, loves car shows, five years at Express Electric specialist in security and AV systems.
  • Past Pres Barry Kramer did the formalities.

Announcements 

Doug Wight reported on the Hospice Pro-Am golf tournament last Friday at Lake Padden.  Very successful, 34 teams, great weather, thanks to sponsors and especially Barry Kramer and the Padden GC team.  Raised over $90K gross!

Rotary Leadership Class/conference in Mount Vernon on Sept 24th; Christine and Dennis currently signed up.

Sept 13 Viking Night.

(Bucks in the Bay

  • Steve Spitzer, wife starts teaching next week, daughter gave birth to boy, the son finished stint in French Alps;
  • Stephanie Sadler says SPA open school starts tomorrow! Also next week Sept 8th Open House;
  • Bob Becker says great job on Hospice Pro-Am golf fundraiser, big thanks to Doug Wight! and thanks to Birch Equipment;
  • Mark Turner attended portrait photography class last week, 17th and 18th session fees will be donated to Food Bank;
  • Curtis Dye went fishing with son last week, son attending SPA with no girls in class?!
  • Donna Edquist was on vacation last week in CA, missed flight and it cost her big bucks;
  • Stew Ellison is now an official empty nester, and his home is for sale!
  • Denise Bosman busy at work, speeding this week with daughter before she leaves back for college;
  • Patti Imhof bucks for passing of Don Haggen, a great friend and wonderful man, happy daughter Courtney is joining club;

Member talks

  • Bob Tull joined Rotary North in 1979! later switching over to this club.  Land use attorney since 1974.  Dannon a part of his firm.  41 years marriage, two sons.  2002-3 was president of the club (went to Barcelona for the RI convention!).  Attended Oak Harbor High School.  Now on the Hospice board.  Recently made his opera debut (in the chorus at Bham Festival of Music), enjoys boating, really has enjoyed being a part of Rotary and this club.
  • Jody Biermann, sponsored by Lesa, discovered Rotary through work on the Hospice House construction project and all the Rotarians there, a native Bellinghamster, went to WWU, worked for John Stewart, in 2000 started her own firm, then recently switched to commercial real estate.  Enjoys Rotary to be involved in the community and non-profit work.  
  • Debbie Kiene, part of Rotary since the mid-70's, as Rotary exchange student to Quebec, french school there and lived with french-speaking family.  Grew up on a dairy farm in Whatcom County. Moved to Seattle in retail.  Then back to Bellingham to work at Bellingham National Bank in 1980's.  Husband of 30 years, two sons, now all in Bellingham.  In 2000 climbed Kilimanjaro on a trip to Africa.
