Announcements

  • Brent Walker says Roger Van Dyken (last week's speaker and owner of San Juan Charters) is going back to Vietnam soon and is requesting donations of any used cellphones to take with him.
  • Terry Brown says two upcoming fellowship sports opportunities: Thursday Jan 24th next basketball game at WWU $35/person.  Also Saturday Feb 2 to see Bellingham Blazers hockey at Sportsplex;
  • Brad Cornwell says Charitable Giving Committee was allocated (by the board) $18K to spend.  There are currently over 20 application requests for funding, but Brad would like to solicit a few more within the next few weeks.  If you know of any good organizations that needs a modest grant, please give them our application form;
  • Dennis added that we do not currently have a "major project" this year, and if no appropriate project presents itself, we can roll the money over until next year which is not such a bad thing.
 

Bucks in the Bay 

  • Phil X says the Peoples Bank sky bridge is done (looks fantastic, Phil) and $ for missed meetings; 
  • Lance had a birthday and some missed meetings;
  • Harold Scott 69 birthday bucks, went on a long trip to Australia and NZ and had a terrific time;
  • Bill Gorman thanks to Brent for all his work on the Foundation which is close to $200k;
  • Dick Stark for great WWU-CWU basketball game, and thanks Bill Gorman for arranging cable service to Dick's church;

Yours truly gave a slideshow and talk on the history of US-USSR Marine Resources Company, the first Soviet-American joint venture ever formed (1976-1990) by Stowe's father, Jim Talbot.
