Program
Continuing the Legacy. John Purdie announced that Mount Baker Theater has a capital campaign for facility improvements. Lynda Hinton shared that her mother worked at the theater and architect Jim Zervas helped save the theater from demolition. The theater has been featured in Evening Magazine. The theater is used by 45 non-profits, given 146 rent-free events, and awarded 3600 student scholarships. MBT has 109,000 admissions and 400 events annually and supported by 225 volunteers. The City of Bellingham purchased the building in 1983. MBT has a management agreement with the City. The City provides $450,000 annual funding. The $3.3 million project is 77% funded. Exterior work is scheduled for this summer. Interior work is scheduled for the following year. The project includes a roof repair, sound system upgrade, new carpet, and new chairs.
