Program
Bob Moles introduced Ken and Ruth Grabeau (past District Dov. in '97-98). Since then, he's been very busy with Rotary both at local and international level. They traveled to Russia and S. America multiple times for Rotary. Ken also served at Pure Water for the World. Bob says his "Rotary moment" came with a conversation with Ken in Portugal ten years ago. Ken is owner of Monarch Instrument, lives in New Hampshire, he and Ruth have two kids and four grandkids. Ken has spent a lot of time helping Russia east of Ural mountains form its own District (separate from Alaska).
Coming changes to Rotary we can expect:
1. Future Vision of Rotary; which will result in reorganization of RI and the districts. For example, for grants the new minimum size will be $15K. There will be a focus on those grant projects that will be self-sustaining. New club "certification" will be required, and this process will be challenging. But as a result, the bureaucracy should be less, and the processes simpler.
2. Membership; it has been stable (or stuck) at the 1.2M mark. 200K members join each year, but same number leave. We do not have a recruitment problem, we have a retention problem. Goal to reach 1.3M in coming years.
3. Re-branding Rotary; they won't touch the logo (Rotary wheel), but perhaps develop a new understanding of our legacy (besides polio)? Bringing world peace through service.

Ken suggested a new four-way test?
 ▪ Is it fun?
 ▪ Can we get away with it?
 ▪ Will anyone find out?
 ▪ Will it cost us anything?

Respectfully submitted,
