  • Membership committee meeting after the program. 
  • Steve Brummel – Donation drive for Boys & Girls club helmets. Need to replace about 45 to 50 helmets. 
  • Glendine Barley – Need to find 4 participants for RYLA, had 3 last year. Let her know of any potential candidates. 
  • Friday March 1st will be our next fellowship hockey night at Sportsplex; please sign up!   
  • Mark Turner presented Danica Dvorachek as student of the month. Parents are Tony and Peggy. Transferred from Lynden her senior year to Squalicum. Taking AP classes and some classes at Whatcom CC.  300 to 400 hours of volunteer work including through her church and mission trips to Mexico and Costa Rica. Going to Dominical Republic this summer.

  • Phil X Hageman for Pearson Construction project in Lynden with Peoples Bank. 
  • Curtis Smith for birthday and anniversary.

  • Leena Kirschman for being friends with parents of the student of the month, supporting the helmet drive for B&G club as well as be auction chair which will be held 4/26. 
  • John Sleeth for Stan and Carrie Dyer.
  • Bill Boyd for Vegas trip and drive by shooting in front of his hotel. Son graduated from WWU and hired on at Kent Fire Dept. 
  • Lesa Boxx – Student of month has nice shoes, Vegas trip and skiing. 
  • Mike Kirkland – Stop by Hospice and acknowledged the great facility.

Fines for no pins, front row, Bham downtown quiz.

Program: Commercial fishing adventure in the Bering Sea by Stew Ellison with slides. Was in his 20’s and went from 1979 to 1982. Dutch Harbor in AL Went out on a larger boat with around 600 pots on board. Diverse crew on board with many different nationalities. A lot of idle time so there would be a lot of pranks and trouble on board. Discussed the various boats and crabs being catched. Very physical work back then but it is much easier these days with technology.
