Announcements

Bob Yost announced that District 5050 would like everyone to fill out an online survey (10 minutes), instructions on the table or go to www.district5050.or, do not sign in, but click “Take this Survey” and go from there.  The deadline May 15th!

Christine introduced two of the three recipients of our major gift monies for this year:
  • $25K to Bellingham Food Bank (Mike Cohen) - Mike said the monies will go to the facility expansion project.
  • $10K to DVSAS (Karen Burke) - Karen said the money will help do second phase of remodel of their building (the old brink triangle “flatiron building” at corner of Magnolia and Commercial).  Karen thanked us for our support.
Steve Kimberly reminded us about the international committee’s fundraiser at Ciao Thyme (6-course dinner) on May 21, 6pm, $190 pp.  Mark your calendars and sign up!  The money raised at the event will go to a Pure Water for the World project in Trojes, Honduras.

Sarah Rothenbuhler restarting the Rotario dinners, $75/person.  The first dinner will be Thursday May 22 at Imhoff’s, then a summer dinner at the lake, then a fall dinner, etc.

Program
Bill Geyer introduced Mike Cohen from the Bellingham Food Bank.  Mike told about some of the clients who use the Food Bank.   Continues to be very busy, and growing.  1 out of 5 families in Bellingham visit the Food Bank.   8 semi-trucks worth of food is being given away each month.  There are more connections with community each year.  Addition to facility is going to be built.  Bellingham facility is the hub for the other food banks in Whatcom County.  The new facility will allow to grow, especially to serve the “partner food banks”.  Permits will be obtained this summer, an expected 12 month build.  To be finished this time next year.  Thanks you to BBRC for the monetary support, and to all the individual donors as well.

Stan and Eddie’s birthday this THURSDAY!

Respectfully submitted,
