Announcements
 
Tresha thanked Stew and all those who helped out with organizing last week's Changing of the Guard party.
 
Carlye Gillespie and Tim Krell were inducted as officers onto the board.
 
Tresha said that at last week’s board meeting they looked at the budget, which will be presented at the September 11th lunch meeting for club’s feedback.  Also, a fundraising committee will be formed. Please let Tresha know if interested to join that effort.
 
New member application: The board and membership committee have recommended approval of applicant John Bosche. He is a wind and solar energy consultant. Please contact President Tresha with any concerns or comments.
 
Recent resignations from the board:  Allan Stockbridge, Jim Logghe, and Teresa Flinn.
 
District 5050 will have their annual golf event (Golfun) on August 17th at Homestead in Lynden. Our club will sponsor a foursome if anyone interested. 
 
Brad Cornwell with Brewers update:  Volunteers please sign up.  Posters are ready please take some for posting.  Radio adds are coming up.  Facebook page is up and ready.  Remember, this is currently our only fundraiser this year, so let's sell some tickets and make it a successful event!  Ticket can be purchased online at Eventbrite HERE.
 
Dannon asked for volunteers for SAA, Flag Salute, and Raffle duty.  Also, anyone who would like to be a Greeter should email Shannon Terrell.
 
Mike Bates, this year's programming chair, is asking membership for any ideas we would like to have for speakers.

Bucks in the Bay
  • Tresha great event last event, and sad news lost one of her two dogs;
  • Stan Dyer introduced son Steven;
  • Rod Bring missed our COG party for a big family gathering (at Fairhaven Park);
  • Tim Krell had wonderful trip to Ireland;
  • Dannon Traxler missed the COG while camping with friends and family in Idaho, then visited BC, also finishing the remodel work on the building she bought on Meridian;
  • Andy Clay was gone for couple weeks, Pete got married!
  • Curtis Dye showed off his shiny new Past President pin, friends visited from Hamburg Germany, attended an awesome Ry Cooder concert at Moore Theater;
  • Steve Kimberly 46th wedding anniversary;
  • Steve White 50th wedding anniversary in England, driving on the left side of road, then rented “villa” farmhouse for a week in Chianti Italy, then Amalfi Coast;
  • Steve Swan was in Wisconsin to attend funeral of old friend;
  • Chris Vasques birthday anniversary and missed meetings, was in the Dom. Republic;
  • Sven Gilkey missed the COG event while at Scout Camp with his kids, kind words for his friend Chris Vasques;

New Member Talk
 
Chris Vasquez was born in White Plains NY and grew up variously in Puerto Rico, CA Mississippi and New York.  Met wife in college and moved up to Bellingham so she could be closer to her family here.  Chris worked at Conoco for nine years, then at Exit Realty, now an agent with Hammer Properties, but mostly does multi-family residential investing and consulting, specializing in student housing.  Chris has a LOT of interests and hobbies: He loves sports (football in his youth) more recently Ski to Sea teams, triathlons, he also loves sailing, boating, camping, motorcycle riding, fishing and scuba diving (will soon be scuba diving instructor). Loves woodworking. Loves shooting. Recent hobby is now bee keeping! The Vasquez’s are big Seahawks fans. Sons are now really into Scouting.  He is happy to be a Rotarian.
