Program

Mike introduced Bryn Frazier and Amber Leonti, Operation Smile - Reconstructive Cleft Surgeries:  Fixing clef pallets and clef lips throughout the world, since 1982, all services are free.  Operation Smile is a global network of medical professionals, who donate hundreds of thousands of hours toward the care of children around the world each year.
All doctors volunteer their time.
Started by Bill and Cathy McGee, physicians that heard that there were lots of cases around the world.  Started in Philippines, saw the bigger need, dedicated their lives to it.
Lip reconstruction surgeries are easier, reconstructing pallets is more complicated.
Student program allows kids to develop leadership….
Wholistic approach to care.
Many times, the families have never seen a doctor before.
Education and training for the parents, nutrition and dental care, for example.
Many projects and grants came from Rotary clubs.
Setting up “360-Care facilities in some countries, which are free-standing centers operating year-round.
Volunteerism
Bryn is a clinical coordinator, setting up and “running the show” during the various missions that are conducted around the world.
Annually 3,500 medical volunteers from 57 countries filled 6,000 positions.
Causes clef pallet? Unknown, no genetic markers yet discovered.

Sean Cool wins the raffle!
